 Parenting Support

One of EMOMs' primary objectives is to provide support to members, both proactively and as needed. The club has several somewhat structured "subgroups" that meet regularly, sometimes with a planned meeting program and sometimes in a more social setting. EMOMs also has programs in place to offer more direct support to members, particularly families with new babies and families in need.

Focused Support Groups
These subgroups within EMOMs provide opportunities for members with similar needs / interests to connect and share experiences.

  • Affinity Groups meet during the first half of our monthly Members Meetings and allow members an opportunity to engage in informal, facilitated discussion with other members who have multiples in the same age range. Groups may choose to keep discussion to a suggested topic or steer the conversation around to whatever is most urgent in their lives at that moment!
  • First-Year EMOMs meets monthly to address topics of specific interest to expectant and new parents of multiples. Monthly meetings include informal discussion as well as a planned program, which may be a guest speaker or a specific discussion topic. New members cite this group as invaluable during their first year with multiples.
  • Adoptive EMOMs provides support and camaraderie for families who have adopted multiples.
  • Single EMOMs provides support and connections for single-parent families with multiples.
  • Triplets and More is a group of EMOMs member families with triplets who get together to share the adventures of parenting triplets (or more).
  • Working EMOMs meets regularly to allow working mom members to get together outside work hours and share their experiences.

Direct Support
EMOMs is committed to providing direct support to member families in times of need.

  • Sunshine provides direct support to member families when they could use a little help, whether it's a ready-to-cook meal for a family with new twins or an expression of sympathy for a family who has experienced a loss.
  • Benevolent offers direct support to area families with multiples who may need help in providing for their family's needs. Help is offered in the form of baby gear and essentials, children's items, and limited financial support.
  • Bereavement offers support to member families who have experienced a loss.

Member Support Network
EMOMs offers several programs that allow members to connect and support one another directly.

  • Big Sister pairs newer member families with more experienced families to facilitate a "mentoring" relationship and to help newer members become a part of the club.
  • Support Contacts provide members with a list of members willing to serve as resources to other members on a wide variety of parenting / multiples topics - from bedrest and C-sections to breastfeeding and post-partum depression.
  • Member Zones is a new program that will bring EMOMs programs closer to home! Since our club serves so many families over such a large area, we will be establishing geographic "zones" and encouraging members within each zone to connect with one another, as well as with the club as a whole.
  • Pay it Forward, based on the concept presented in the book and movie of the same name, is a service that allows members to request help with a specific need or project, and to help others when they are able.
