Prospective Members are invited to check out the club by attending up to two Member Meetings prior to joining EMOMs.
Members Meetings
EMOMs Members Meetings are held monthly on the second Monday of the
month and are open to all EMOMs members and prospective members. Most
months of the year, we will have Expecting/First Year,
Toddler/Preschool, and School-age focus group. Three times a year we
will have a combined meeting with a "big ticket" speaker of interest
across the age groups (likely with a small round-table discussion for
the Expecting/First Year if preferred over the main speaker).
The first 30 minutes of the meeting is for social time and club business before breaking out into focus groups:
- Expecting/First Year
group has topics that include breast feeding, postpartum depression,
sleep issues, baby sign language, caring for your newborns, and
favorite equipment.
- Toddler/Preschool group
includes discussion topics or speakers addressing potty training,
nutrition, preschool, activities with your children, and other relevant
issues.
- The School-Age group is new, so more information on topics will be forthcoming.
First Year Group
If your
multiples are under one year old, or if you are still awaiting their
arrival, we'd love to see you at First-Year EMOMs! First-Year EMOMs is a
great way to meet other parents, share ideas, ask questions, and find
support during pregnancy and in your first year as parents of
multiples. Spouses/partners are encouraged to attend, and babies and
prospective members are always welcome.*
If you have questions about First-Year EMOMs, please send email to
firstyear@emoms.org.
What to Expect
Meetings
officially begin at 6:30p, but please come even if you will be late -
we know how tricky it can be to make it out of the house, with or
without your little ones.
We usually start with announcements
and introductions, then move to our planned program for the evening at
7:00p. Some months our meeting features a guest speaker while other
months we have a specific discussion topic (such as
breastfeeding/bottle-feeding, sleep, or starting solids). The floor is
always open, however, to talk about whatever your current challenges or
concerns may be.
Depending on how long our meeting program
runs, there is generally time for open questions / discussion at the
end of the meeting. Please feel free to use this time to connect with
other parents and expectant parents - the First-Year EMOMs group can be
a great place to make friends you'll stay close with as your multiples
grow into toddlerhood and preschool and beyond.
If you are already a member and have a question for one of the coordinators, you may contact them by emailing
firstyear@emoms.org
